Timelord won today in Chantilly, finally putting us back in the winner’s circle after too long a drought. Christophe Soumillon was in the saddle for the first time in a long time for me, and he rode a great race. I thought he might have been beaten coming out of the turn, but Christophe said he knew he would win from well back. Timelord has now run three consistent races, finishing third, then second and now winning. It has been a lot of work to manage his box-walking and keep him happy, so it’s nice to see it paying off.
Now I just hope Brazil isn’t eliminated on Wednesday. She worked head-to-head with Timelord this week, and his strong performance gives me more hope for her. We’ll know more tomorrow.
Many congrats Gina.
Timelord’s race was brilliant.
I would love to know what were you thinking when he was blocked in the straight with nowhere to go for a while.
Saw you on tv: very polite answer: very difficult to beat the favourite, lol.
Faces of owners there were telling a very different story and we all knew it was now or never.
Hope this is just the start of a winning spell for the yard.
Congratulations, Gina.
Voro – I’ll tell you what I was thinking when he was blocked: I was thinking we were screwed and that Soumillon was about to drop his hands and call it a day. But he said he knew after the first furlong he would win. He sure kept us guessing!
In any case, the horse showed he had a turn of foot we’ve never seen before, and he will win again. We also hope it’s the start of a long streak! Stay tuned…
Yay Gina. Good one. We’re back in ML now, ready for a lunch!
Well done Gina – nice one. Glad Soumillon did the job right for you. Hope Skid manages to get himself in the frame for you before he heads south. His 2 year old half sister (Story Telling) won last week on her second start for Stéphane Wattel, so it would be nice if Skid could return to winning for again too. All the best 🙂
Congrats on win.. racing will teach patience or not.
